If you live in one of the 18 million homes in the UK that watches digital TV, and you happen to be part of the UK’s 50% of the population that will have access to the new HD channels from the BBC, ITV and channel 4, hopefully in time for next years world cup in South Africa, and of course you want to watch it, then you are going to have to manually retune your Freeview set top box.

Even if you are not a football fan, at some point you will have to get your head around a retune as the transmission frequencies for all the main TV channels are due to be reconfigured later this year and your set top box will need to be retuned if you want to continue enjoying their services
It seems a large scale retuning event will soon be taking place, although as yet nobody really seems to know how this is going to be organized. As signals are reconfigured to make way for more and more channels as time goes on it is becoming apparent that retuning your set top box will not be a once in a lifetime experience.

Perhaps its time to redefine nights in and have a retuning party, especially at your less technically minded friends houses, who for sure, unless there is some serious help and easy to follow information distributed by the broadcasters, are never going to work out how to retune their set top box! Can it really be that difficult? Let’s hope not! But of course, time will tell..

Anyway, here’s a great guide from the wonderful folk at Digital UK to help you with your retuning.. the only thing that’s left is to take this opportunity to post up an image of their awfully cute mascot!
