 What is Freeview HD?  Freeview HD is a television service which broadcasts HD channels available via your current TV aerial, all at no extra cost. Freeview HD is available in a set top box that you will need to connect to an HD Ready TV. Alternatively, if you don’t have an HD ready TV, then TVs with Freeview HD built in are also available very soon. You get access to up to 50 SD digital channels and radio stations. And all for free. Freeview HD is requires almost no set up; just plug in, no monthly bills, you just buy today, watch today and it’s free forever.  What will be showing on Freeview HD?  Freeview HD will give you subscription free HD channels for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and S4C in Wales – in addition up to 50* Freeview channels in SD. BBC HD has nine hours of programmes daily, including the best of the BBC’s programmes in HD: with all your favourite shows like Nature's Great Events;Dr Who, Hustle; Night Garden and entertainment and comedy programmes including Strictly Come Dancing. Plus of course events like Glastonbury or sport such as Wimbledon and the 2010 World Cup. ITV1 HD brings you the ITV 1 schedule you love, but now in high definition. Some shows will be broadcast in full HD, whereas others will be remastered to give you the sharper, clearer pictures you love in HD. So, with epic TV moments like Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor, Champions League and World Cup football, plus a few all-time favourites like The Bill and Corrie, it’s a great HD line up. 4HD will be available in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland shortly with viewers in Wales able to see an HD version of S4C Digidol. Then all you’ll need to do is buy a Freeview HD digital box or Freeview+ HD digital TV recorder* and connect it to an HD ready TV set, using an HDMI cable. Or, if you don’t already have an HD ready TV set, this is your chance to get a new TV with Freeview HD built in. It’s the perfect excuse to upgrade. Remember that an HD ready logo on your TV doesn’t mean that you are already watching HD channels on Freeview. Read More.  15 March  No Channel Five until 2012 Freeview HD will not be including Channel Five at least until 2012. Ofcom announced that the Channel Five will be excluded from Freeview HD after failing to offer up a launch date or a schedule of HD shows. Five had been assured a spot on Freeview HD.
