As high-definition TVs continue to evolve with evermore-enticing technologies and extras, the majority of buyers are still looking for the best bang for the buck. Panasonic's plasmas are usually at or near the top of the heap in that category, and the 42-inch TH-42PX80U is a great example. This set doesn't sport 1080p resolution or a multitude of picture controls, and while we would have wanted a bit more in the way of adjustability, we definitely didn't miss the extra pixels. This plasma gives the best black levels for the price, and while its color and noise reduction could use improvement, Panasonic's least-expensive 2008 plasma is still an all-around superb value.
There is nothing ultra-fancy about this flat panel’s design, but it’s still sleek & very ultra-modern with its shiny black border surrounding the big screen. You will also find a hidden flap on the lower edge where there are hidden inputs, much more convenient than at the back, especially if you are planning on wall mounting.
The TH-42PX80U weighs 61.8 pounds with the stand attached & is a compact 40.2 inches wide by 28.7 inches tall & is 12.9 inches deep.
Enjoy Rich Deep Black Levels with Outstanding Contrast

Share High Def (HD) Videos on your Big Screen
The built-in SD memory card slot allows you to instantly display your digital photos, either in random order or as a slide show. You can also watch videos that were recorded on your Panasonic HD camcorder.
The good: Relatively inexpensive; produces a deep shade of black; accurate initial color temperature; solid connectivity with three HDMI inputs; handsome, understated exterior.
The bad: Color decoding accentuates red; inaccurate primary color of green; ineffective noise reduction.
Overall: Panasonic's TH-42PX80U 42-inch plasma sets the picture quality-to-value standard for entry-level plasma TVs.
You will find yourself immersed in an incredible 720p high definition experience, enjoying your favourite movies and sporting events to the fullest with this Panasonic TV. With truly excellent picture quality, superb service, and easy connectivity, Panasonic makes HDTV ownership a fun and rewarding experience at a really affordable price.
