The number 1080 refers to the lines of vertical resolution and the letter p stands for progressive scan as apposed to interlace scan that is less smooth and can cause flicker.

Digital Visual Interface
This high-bandwidth connection automatically presents the images at the optimal picture size and resolution. Pixels are transmitted as binary data and each pixel in the outer buffer are read from the source device and assigned brightness individually on the display as apposed to analog where each pixel may be affected by adjacent pixels and by electrical noise

The Freeview brand name is owned by DTV services that took over digital terrestrial television in 2002. Traditional TV's display visual images at 50Hz frames per second. 100Hz runs at twice that amount by creating an extra unique frame between each of the existing 50 frames. USB can also provide power to low consumption devices eliminating the need for an external power supply.

Ethernet is intended for building a local area network (LAN) and is a standard communications protocol embedded in software and hardware devices. Ethernet achieves transfer rates of up to 10 MB/s. Ethernet networks can also be wireless by using radio waves for two way communication with a wireless switch or hub.

Connection Overview

Scart cables originated in France and it stands for Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorecepteurs et Televiseurs.
