PETALING JAYA: Sony (M) Sdn Bhd hopes its new Bravia V400 and S400 series will boost its market share of LCD television (TV) in Malaysia this year.
Its LCD TV market share last year was about 28%, contributing 30% to the company’s total revenue. Sony’s other major products include handycams, cameras and laptops.
Product marketing division general manager Taku Taguchi said this new LCD series offered new and improved features, such as the Bravia Engine 2 and Bravia Sync technology, which enhanced image quality.
“We have launched 22 Bravia models since the series’ introduction in Malaysia in 2005. We will continue to maintain the concept of ‘Draw the Line’ where viewers can see the images ‘floating’ on the screen, thus giving a spectacular image,” he told reporters after the launch of the two series yesterday.
The V400 series comprises three models, while the S400 has four models. Their prices range from RM2,499 to RM7,499.
“The LCD TV industry is fast growing, and we expect the new series to help maintain our leading position in the market,” Taguchi added.
Sony, which began operations in Malaysia in 1973, currently has four direct stores and 500 authorised dealers.
