Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) is a chief supplier of panels for the 42-inch LCD TVs that Sony has just launched in the North American market, according to industry sources.
Sony, with panel supply from S-LCD – its joint-venture with Samsung Electronics – has also been sourcing 32- and 40-inch panels from AU Optronics (AUO) and CMO.
The sources commented although Taiwan makers are not manufacturing the 42-inch LCD TVs for Sony, they stand a good chance of receiving outsourcing orders in the future.
Sony's 42-inch V series features full HD and a dynamic contrast ratio of 25,000:1, and it carries a price tag of US$1,599.99.
